J Crew is a brand that I get a lot of Business Casual inspiration from. Their clothes and look are more on the preppy side and they are sure to make you look polished and work ready. But unless you are shopping the sales, their clothing is not very affordable. This is why I decided to take looks straight from their website and copy them for a whole lot less. So instead of splurging on just one J Crew outfit, you can propbably afford all three! All of the original looks can be seen here.
Coat, Sweater, Pants, Flats
Look 1 can be purchased from J Crew here for a total of $1321.
Top, Pumps, Skirt, Clutch
Look 2 can be purchased from J Crew here for a total of $730.
Pants, Sweater, Shoes, Top, Blazer
Look 3 can be purchased from J Crew here for a total of $734.
This time around I’m styling a simple sweater a couple ways. A sweater is an essential piece for your wardrobe this fall primarily because it makes such a great base for throwing layers on. This orange color will also make your neutrals pop. And if orange just isn’t your color it comes in tons of other colors. And being the budget shopper I am, both of these outfits are under $150 and the pieces can each be used to make other great looks.
Necklace, Scarf, Denim top, Sweater, Flats, Pants
Sweater, Flats, Jacket, Necklace, Skirt
I think it is very applicable to the work place as well as life in general.
Hope you enjoyed your weekend!
Tilly’s isn’t usually the first place I think of when I look for Business Casual clothing, but it is actually a great place to find some essential workplace pieces. Tilly’s also has some amazing sales on their sale items during holidays. Be sure to sign up for their emails so you can stay in the loop and be the first to know about their great deals.
Some of my favorite items to buy from Tilly’s are shoes. The shoes especially are bound to go on sale at some point so if you see a pair you like, hold off to get them at a great price. The shoes also go on sale once a season is over. So if you want some great shoes for next summer, for example, now is the time to look and stock up.
Below is an outfit I created using only items from Tillys.com. It isn’t necessarily the most fashion forward outfit but it’s great for work and it uses very versatile pieces. Below the outfit are some great items that I think you would like for your own Business Casual looks.

Blazer, Top, Bag, Dress, Watch, Coat, Necklace
Will you check out Tilly’s? What do you think of their clothes?
I have a confession to make, I’m a addicted to online shopping. Although I don’t always make purchases when I’m browsing clothing websites, I browse them a lot! I honestly just love finding good sales. And Dorothyperkins.com is the perfect website for my addiction. Especially their sale section. I don’t think I’ve actually ever looked at the regular-priced apparel because so much great clothing can be found on sale on this website. I have compiled some of my favorite pieces that are on sale on the website now! Dorothy Perkins is also offering an extra 20% at checkout– that should be enough to start your online shopping addiction too.

Oh how I love Fridays. I can’t even begin to express how happy I am when this day comes around. I love waking up and slipping into my denim and casual tops. But this week I decided to work with a simple, yet very cute, dress. When wearing a dress on casual Friday make sure it’s not too casual! This means no spaghetti straps, no short dresses, and absoultely no tube dresses! You want to still look appropriate for the work place yet not as dressy as you would be Monday through Thursday. Below is a dress that I consider to be very work appropriate and perfect for Casual Friday!
This time around the piece that I will be creating outfits around is this top from Tobi. It’s only $32 and comes in five great colors. It’s such a versatile piece that you can style numerous ways, which makes it a great investment for your work outfits.
The following outfits each have their own vibe. Each can be worn in a different situation and work environment.
Another week, another Friday, and another outfit. This week I’m mixing a few summer trends like stripes and color-blocking to get you a well put-together, Casual Friday outfit. Also every item used to create this outfit is from Forever 21. So you don’t have to run around to different websites to get a great ensemble.
Casual Friday means you can kick of the heels, throw off the business skirts and slip into something more, well, casual! This week I figured I would mess with a trend that’s been with us since spring, the skinny colored denim. Now if you aren’t into playing with much color now is the time to start. Color can be fun! I am definitely one that likes sticking to black but for the summer it’s essential to throw in some different hues.
If you’re anything like me, the phrase “Casual Friday” confuses you like no other. Personally my casual is a pair of yoga pants with an old sorority tank. But this is definitely not what is meant by the phrase. In an attempt to understand what was acceptable I studied a memo given to me on my first day at the job that listed exactly what could and couldn’t be worn to work. In all honesty this didn’t help much. For example under footware, I’m allowed to wear “casual shoes”…
